The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of people around the world. In 2015, all United Nations Member States adopted 17 Goals as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which sets out a plan to achieve the Goals in 15 years.
The Port Authority of Gijón, as manager of the Maritime-Terrestrial Public Domain of the Port of El Musel, must look after the ecosystems that exist on the land and in the water of its port management area, which is directly related to SDGs 14 and 15. Therefore, within the framework of the Environmental Monitoring Plan of the Port of El Musel, a series of works have been carried out in relation to the fulfillment of SDG 14 (Underwater Life) and 15 (Life of Terrestrial Ecosystems).
